The objective of this project is to merge experiment and theory by using advanced turbulence simulations to aid in the design of a new turbulence diagnostic system that will be used to test the fundamental physics of turbulent transport in tokamak plasmas.

This diagnostic approach will measure electron temperature fluctuations, which provide direct information about the underlying physics of heat transport. When combined with advanced models and simulations, these data can be used to indirectly probe the turbulent transport of particles, momentum, and energy as well.
